SHAZAM! FURY OF THE GODS

SHAZAM! FURY OF THE GODS.
Screenwriter Henry Gayden and director David F. Sandberg have returned for Shazam! Fury of the Gods after the Box office and critically acclaimed success of Shazam!
What’s it about?
Bestowed with the powers of the gods, Billy Batson and his fellow foster kids are still learning how to juggle teenage life with their adult superhero alter egos. When a vengeful trio of ancient gods arrive on Earth in search of the magic stolen from them long ago, Shazam and his allies get thrust into a battle for their superpowers, their lives, and the fate of the world.
Who’s in it?
Helen Mirren. And also some other people.. Pretty much everyone from the first movie will be back for the sequel. Joining the cast is (Dame) Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu who are playing the primary villains, demigods Hespera, and Kalypso, respectively. Rachel Zegler is also joining the cast as Athena.
Who the hell is Hesperas and Kalypso?
The Furies come from Greek mythology and are all children of Atlas (one of the gods who gives Shazam his power):
- Hespera is named after the Hesperides, the spirits of the sunset, who tended a garden of golden apples. Hespera is also the female form of Hesperus, Atlas's brother and the god of the Evening Star Venus.
- Kalypso is named after the enchantress who tended to Odysseus on his way home.
- Anthea is the goddess of gardens, swamps, flowers, and human love.
- There are also two member of the Hesperides named Calypso and Antheia (another spelling of Anthea's name).
How does it fit into the new DC universe?
We don’t know.. and we don’t really care. Shazam has always felt like it’s only little universe, so hopefully it stays that way. Or at least for the time being.
Release date?
The movie hits the big screens March 17th in the UK. Runtime is 130mins.
